Membership
Associate Membership
The associate member category offers people working in translation
and interpretation a way of joining a professional organization
even if they are not ready to write the certification exam
or present a request for certification on dossier. It offers
them the possibility of meeting certified translators, attending
professional and informal workshops, conferences and seminars,
and attending the annual general meeting of the association.
Their names, phone numbers and language combinations are listed
in a separate part of the online directory. The goal of the
associate member shall be to work towards certification.
Associate members do not have the right to vote, nor can they
buy advertisement space in the online directory or ATINS website.
Process
1st step: Fill out ATINS' questionnaire.
2nd step: Invitation to submit a resume and a professional
dossier.
Twice a year, ATINS invites people who filled out the questionnaire
and are suitable candidates to submit a resume and a professional
dossier stating experience, employers, references, etc.
The two deadlines for submission of a dossier are March 1
and September 1. The fee for review of the dossier is $100.00
and it must be sent along with the submission. The fee is
non refundable.
3rd step: Meeting and interview
Following the dossier review and depending on its results,
the admission committee requests a meeting with the candidate
to discuss legal and ethical responsibilities and any other
aspects of the profession.
Candidates are informed in writing of their admission as
associate members; they will become associate members in good
standing upon payment of the annual dues of $90.00.
