The Association of Translators and Interpreters of Nova Scotia (ATINS) is a provincial association founded in 1990 with the following objectives:

• to give translators and interpreters of the province the opportunity to meet and discuss matters of common concern, and to provide a link with translators and interpreters of other provinces and countries;
• to promote the profession and development of its members;
• to give users of translation services access to a body of competent professionals.

When it was founded, ATINS became a member of the Canadian Translators, Terminologists and Interpreters Council (CTTIC), on an equal footing with previously-established associations of translators and interpreters in Ontario, Quebec, British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, New Brunswick, and the Northwest Territories.

ATINS takes part in all the meetings of CTTIC, and has a share in its administration. CTTIC represents Canada within the International Federation of Translators (FIT), which is also an advisory body to UNESCO.

ATINS is also a member of the Metropolitan Halifax Chamber of Commerce.
